Molokini snorkel tour prices

Molokini trips range from a quick two-hour raft to a five-hour luxury sail with an open bar. Here is what each price buys, and the extras nobody puts in the headline.

Every Molokini tour snorkels the same protected crater, so the price difference is about everything around the swim: how long you are out, how many people share the boat, whether breakfast, lunch and drinks are included, and whether the boat can actually sail.

Prices below are the Viator from-prices per adult in 2026, including fees. They move with the season, so the checkout price is the one that counts.

The quick answer

On Viator in 2026, Molokini snorkel tours cost from $147 for a two-hour raft from Kihei to $306 for a luxury sailing catamaran with an open bar. Most five-hour catamaran mornings from Maalaea, with breakfast, lunch and gear, cost $160 to $233. Budget extra for Maalaea parking (guests report about $3 an hour), a 15 to 20% crew tip and optional extras like SNUBA or a wetsuit top.

How much does a Molokini snorkel tour cost in 2026?

From $147 for a two-hour raft to $306 for a luxury sail; the typical five-hour catamaran morning costs about $200.

Children pay less on most trips. All of these cancel for a full refund up to 24 hours before on Viator.

What is included in the price?

On the five-hour trips: snorkel gear, flotation, instruction, breakfast, lunch and soft drinks; the two-hour rafts include the gear and the ride only.

Alcohol varies most. The Four Winds II pours beer and wine, Sail Maui serves beer and wine, Pacific Whale Foundation includes one adult drink, and the Alii Nui and Pride of Maui include alcohol with the meals. The Malolo serves coffee, soda and juice. Optical masks for glasses wearers are listed on the Four Winds II and Pacific Whale Foundation trips.

What is the cheapest Molokini snorkel tour?

The 2-hour Molokini Express from Kihei is the cheapest at $147, but the Malolo at $160 is the best value: five and a half hours with two meals.

The Express is gear only, with no restrooms on the raft, and leaves in the late morning. The Malolo starts early (check-in is 5:45 AM for a 6:30 departure) and is the most reviewed trip here. Guests are split on it: one wrote that the price was cheaper than others that only had 2 hours, while another found the boat really crowded.

On a budget but want the full morning? The Malolo includes breakfast, lunch and a turtle stop.

What costs extra on the day?

Parking at Maalaea, the crew tip, and optional extras: SNUBA, a wetsuit top, towels on some boats and souvenir photos.

  • Parking: metered at Maalaea Harbor, free at Kihei Boat Ramp.
  • Tips: not included on any trip here; 15 to 20% is customary.
  • SNUBA: sold on board on the Pride of Maui, and excluded from the Four Winds II price.
  • Wetsuit top and towels: the Four Winds II lists both as not included, and the Malolo lists towels as not included.
  • Photos: several boats carry a photographer; guests on the Malolo mention one.
  • Hotel transfers: none of these tours includes them.

How much is parking at Maalaea Harbor?

Parking at Maalaea is metered and paid by card or QR code; guests report about $3 an hour, which adds up to around $18 for a five-hour trip.

One Pride of Maui guest in September 2026 wrote that the booking stated parking at $2, but it was $18 ($3/hr). The Alii Nui listing quotes about $1 an hour at its QR-code meters, so rates differ by lot. Pay for the whole trip: a Sail Maui guest reported that their car was towed after they rushed aboard without paying. Parking at Kihei Boat Ramp is free. See Maalaea vs Kihei for both harbors.

How much should you tip the crew?

Plan on 15 to 20% of the ticket price, in cash, at the end of the trip.

Gratuities are listed as not included on every tour on this site. For a family of four on a $200 trip, that is $120 to $160, so it is worth building into the budget before comparing prices.

Is a more expensive tour worth it?

It is if you value space, food and real sailing; the reef itself does not get better with the price.

The Alii Nui ($306) adds chef-made food, an open bar, bow hammocks, freshwater showers and two full-size restrooms. It still carries a crowd: one guest counted 54 people on board. Sail Maui ($200) caps its sailing catamaran at 49 guests. On the cheaper big boats, guests report nearly 100 people on board.

Is a Molokini snorkel tour worth the money?

For most visitors, yes: it is the easiest way to snorkel the clearest water in Maui, but go on an early boat and accept that the crater is never guaranteed.

You cannot reach Molokini any other way: landing on the islet is prohibited, and every visit starts at a harbor. If wind or swell close the crater, the trip goes to a sheltered reef instead and still counts as a snorkel tour, not a cancellation. Read morning vs afternoon before you pick a time.

Booking early costs nothing: every tour here cancels free up to 24 hours before.

Frequently asked questions

Do children pay less on Molokini tours?

On most trips, yes. The Pacific Whale Foundation listing on Viator goes further: up to three children aged 12 and under go free with each paying adult, but they must be on the booking.

Is Molokini cheaper on Viator or direct?

Prices are close either way. Viator's prices include fees, and every tour here cancels for a full refund up to 24 hours before.

Do I get money back if the boat skips Molokini?

Usually not: a switch to another reef for safety is not a cancellation. If the operator cancels the whole trip for weather, you are offered another date or a refund.

What is the cheapest way to see Molokini?

The 2-hour Molokini Express from Kihei, from $147. For a full morning with meals, the Malolo from $160.
